Welcome

What We Do

We teach students computers on computers. Our courses begin with a student at a keyboard in front of a monitor, not only watching and listening to experts, but also responding to their instruction with hands-on lab simulations. Students can learn at home, in a school computer lab, or anywhere with a compatible computer and wherever and whenever they choose to work, students can always contact a certified instructor for assistance through our 24/7 online live-chat Learning Zone. We empower students to use technology to learn better, to build more, and to explore a future of their own making.

How We Do It

The curriculum for each of our classes contains an instructor and a classroom. Students learn directly from industry experts who appear on their computer desktop in full motion video and audio, taking them through each step of a given task with detailed explanations. Every session is like learning one-on-one as the instructor leads the student through hands-on lab simulations, administers tests, and opens the class for online questions and discussion. In addition, students can then print out essential lessons and information for review and independent work, consulting online with instructors as necessary.

Why We Do It

It is now widely accepted that every high school graduate needs to be computer literate in order to succeed in college and the job market. Oak Meadow and Career Academy have forged this partnership because we believe every student deserves the chance to build a technological foundation for success, regardless of academic setting or the immediate availability of certified instructors.

The certifying body can be an industry association such as CompTIA or a specific company such as Microsoft or Cisco. While these certifications can help students prove their credentials, they are not required by many hiring organizations. Becoming certified is a personal choice individuals make based on their career goals and related factors. Many organizations are satisfied if a job candidate can demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience. Many others prefer certified candidates. Much more information on certifications is available on the web via the certifying organizations and companies such as Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA. Many non-affiliated, independent web sites offer information, opinion and blogs related to certification as well.
