Curriculum > Certification Information
Most of the courses offered are designed to prepare students for specific IT industry certifications. Many students go on to become certified by passing exams designed and managed by the certifying body. The certifying body can be an industry association such as CompTIA or a specific company such as Microsoft or Cisco. While these certifications can help students prove their credentials, they are not required by many hiring organizations. Becoming certified is a personal choice individuals make based on their career goals and related factors. Many organizations are satisfied if a job candidate can demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience. Many others prefer certified candidates. Much more information on certifications is available on the web via the certifying organizations and companies such as Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA. Many non-affiliated, independent web sites offer information, opinion and blogs related to certification as well.
